Investor's WorkStation Help

PDF E-mail Reader

Pdf files are written and read by installing free pdfEdit995 from http://www.pdf995.com/download.html .

You can buy an e-mail key for the program for $19.95 to eliminate advertising pop-ups after each use.

The reason we use pdfEdit995 is so that WorkStation users do not have to go to the expense of buying Acrobat (writer/reader).

After you have downloaded and installed pdfEdit995, open it, click on the Auto-Name file, and select Automatically name....

Then go to program files/pdf995 and with View/Details checked add a folder titled Output. You will see an existing Res folder.

Go to Investor's WorkStation/Main Menu/Setup/Communications.

Click on Select @ PDF INI Path.

Find pdf995 program folder.

Open pdf995 folder. Two sub-folders will appear: output and res.

Note: With later versions of pdf995, now called pdfEdit995, you will only see the res file.

Select and open res and Click OK. The file path will appear @ PDF INI Path.

Go to PDF Output Path:

  • For pdf995, click on Select. Open the output folder and click OK. The file path will appear @ PDFOutput path.
  • For pdfEdit995, just copy and paste or type in the same path that precedes the PDF INI path with it ending in \OUTPUT rather than \INI.

You are ready to write and send .pdf files.

If clients to do not have a PDF reader, they may download the free Adobe Acrobat reader at: http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html

Note: I use Outlook Express to receive Investor's WorkStation .pdf e-mail. We have never been able to use Earthlink.
