The spirit of your conscience. Commitment: To do the specific activities that will accomplish the goal. Commitment includes attitude and persistence: Attitude: I am a winner. I am where I am, doing the best I can. If there are footprints in front of me, I am probably going in the wrong direction. Persistence: life’s two greatest sins are to not really try and to give up! The keys to commitment: Training? Sales? Technique? Research? Strategies? Product? Knowledge? Names? Support? Managers? The Firm? Markets? NO! Only the tools of commitment! The key to commitment is WORK ETHIC. The WORK ETHIC recipe : First one at work. Last one at work. At least a half day on Saturday. Talking to many people. Asking many people to do business with you.
"I will work. I will put in the time." That’s good. But not good enough. Work: "I reviewed the charts and went to a meeting." Sorry! Time: "I sat in my chair and watched the market." No! Work and time must be productive; activity directly related to achieving the goal of talking to a lot of people with effective communications and effective presentations. Work and time add up to zero if they are not productive. They quickly add up to less than zero because lost work and lost time cannot be made up. Do not fool yourself. Sooner or later, mostly sooner, the productivity of both will show up. Productive work. Productive time. Meetings and watching, out! Talking to people, a lot of people, and presenting to people, a lot of people. In!. "Satisfied?"...... Not quite! Add massive effort, productive work. Add massive effort, productive time. "Done!".........No, not quite. Consistent. "Tuesday and Thursday between 9:00 a.m. And 1:00 p.m." Neither and not good enough! Consistent means most of the time, realistic, and maintainable. It is a question of pace. Your Commitment: Consistent, massive effort, productive work and time. Now I am satisfied. |
